Sunday Lesson

Today Jill Olsen gave a great lesson on keeping an eternal perspective in our lives. She listed some "tools" to help us do this: using humor, faith, time, and a couple more that I can't remember right now. (Post them, please, Jill!)

Next week our lesson will be chapter #19 from Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Smith: Stand Fast through the Storms of Life, taught by Sis. Barbara Ritchie.

Also, since I felt like I bumbled my way through the announcements, here they are for clarification:
  • Sundays (until Stake Conference), 6:00 pm @ the stake center--Y.M./Y.W. choir practice
  • Sat, Oct. 25, 9:00 am @ the church Craft group--circle albums. 10:00 Book Club discussion for A Train to Potevka, by Mike Ramsdell.
  • Tues, Oct. 28, Trunk-or-Treat/Halloween Carnival. More info to come next week.
  • Sat. Nov. 1, 9:00 am @ Ogden temple--ward temple day, and Stake R.S. temple day, meet at 8:45 am for the 9:00 session.
  • Sat. Nov. 8, 7:00 pm @ the stake center--adult session of Stake Conference
  • Sun, Nov. 9, 3:00 pm @ Ogden Tabernacle--general session of Stake Conference
  • D.I. Christmas Bishop's Night--collecting new or gently used toys, quilts, clothing, etc. Please drop off items to a member of the R.S. presidency or the D.I. by Nov. 20.

It was a great lesson. There is so much going on in the world right now to worry about, and being reminded that with God we don't really need to worry about those things is very helpful, and brought a real sense of peace to my mind yesterday that has stuck with me today. We even talked about it as a family around the dinner table.
